You probably want a full or high pop server that is dominated by your faction, which means more active guilds/players/ah for you. The AH commodities (mats, consumables etc) is region wide nowadays. Advantages are that you get more guilds, more people in cities and trade chat, and a healthy economy (though that is not faction-specific).
